Dr. Carmine Massarelli is an environmental technologist at the National Research Council of Italy, Construction Technologies Institute and an expert in the design of complex monitoring programs of water and soil aimed at the correct assessment of environmental status. Expert in data analysis activities through machine learning, Dr. Massarelli specializes in advanced research on smart technologies for characterizing and monitoring contaminated and degraded sites. His work focuses on the integration of spatial data, interoperability, and data infrastructures. He is also an expert in the use of open-source software for the management of Geographic Information Systems, geo-database administration, programming and IT-related roles. He is currently coordinating several research projects for regional monitoring of pesticide residues in water bodies, pollution by nitrates of agricultural origin, understanding the dynamics of environmental illegals, and safeguarding biodiversity.
